Janice Anne Pelletier, a woman who spent her life giving of herself and serving others, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 13, 2021, at the age of 68.

Janice loved and was loved by her daughter Jade, son-in-law Steve Ayers, and her cherished grandchildren, Rilyn, Kilee, and Keeden Ayers.

Growing up, Janice was the oldest in her family and will be dearly missed by her siblings, Linda MacDougall (Mike MacDougall ), and Heather Traquair (Bobby Jones). Lovingly remembered by her nephews Jordan (Leah) MacDougall, Jace MacDougall, Brad Traquair, Brock Traquair, extended family, and special friends, Rose, Anne, Arlene, and Dawn.

Janice shared many special moments with her daughter Jade, including being able to be a support during the birth of her granddaughter, wonderful memories where Janice's smile was never brighter. Janice's greatest pride was found in her daughter and grandchildren, an incredibly loving, and caring woman who was always giving of herself.

A shopping fan, Janice especially enjoyed shopping for others and stopping in to see her grandbabies. On beautiful sunny days, Janice loved to enjoy porch visits with her daughter, soaking in the sun, catching up on the latest while enjoying a cup of coffee or taking a drive out to her sister's for a backyard visit watching the lake.

A special thank you from Janice's family to Bluewater health and all of the staff on Med A, Med G, Med T, ICU, and especially Rehab and Palliative Care for everything they did for Janice and Jade in their time in hospital. A big thank you from Jade as well to Aunt Linda for being there whenever needed her, a true godsend.

Always remembered by family and friends, Janice's gentle and humble heart was filled with strength and loving kindness.

Arrangements are entrusted to Gilpin Funeral Chapel, 123 King Street East in Forest. Please leave a memory or condolence online at

I met Janice by chance in 1976 when I responded to an advertisement for a roommate in the University of Western Ontario’s housing office. Writing down that number changed my life – literally. I lived with Janice, and two other roommates, for the last 2 years of my university program. Janice was a delight – taking me on outings (music festivals, nightlife spots, shopping) in her Camaro - and sharing her experience and wisdom from her career in healthcare…lessons that I took with me into my own profession. She was a compassionate and caring nurse and friend, loyal to those she loved and so proud of her Scottish heritage. Our home was filled with laughter, company, and macrame plant holders!
During one of her visits with me in Kingston, we spent the evening at a small wine bar with live music. She struck up a conversation with a rather shy man sitting next to us as we listened to a folk duo. By the end of the evening, we were on a first name basis with him (Gary), and the musicians (Mike & Pete). Thirty years later, Gary and I celebrated our wedding anniversary in our back yard with Mike & Pete playing the same songs we had heard that night. Janice made all of that happen.
In recent years, Janice and I kept in touch by phone and had a wonderful visit a few years back in Sarnia. We often reminisced about our time together in London, attending each other’s wedding and our occasional reunions. We shared our stories of motherhood and her joy of being a grandmother. We supported each other through health crises and ongoing medical challenges. She was one of those rare friends who, having known me for most of my life, could understand, comfort, and celebrate life’s small moments. I will miss her terribly.

Well said Anne, I too have memories from those university days as well as knowing Janice from our time at St. Clair Secondary school. She was so much fun with such a positive outlook on life, family and friends! Peter Stock

I miss Janice very much. We became close friends in 1976 working together on a geriatric unit at the London Psychiatric Hospital. We had times of fun and laughter intermingled with sadness ,tears and grief. Janice always took the extra steps to make the lives of her patients feel special. She would style their hair or add that touch of lipstick or simply listen to their life stories as they remembered that day. She was truly empathetic , appreciated by families and was a highly respected and valued team member.
We worked, lived and partied together sharing confidences. We ended up living together again for a period of time in Kitchener before Janice’s heart took her back to Sarnia. We remained close, sharing many visits and all the important milestones .
Over recent years as health issues surfaced for both of us our friendship has continued through telephone conversations. She was so very proud of her family and we shared many updates on all while “solving the problems of the world”.
The height of her pride was in her love for you Jade. The involvement in your life and with your much loved family was the most important focus of her being.
Thank you Linda for keeping me involved in the last weeks as Janice struggled with telephone communication and function.
My thoughts and love to Jade Rylin, Linda, Heather, Mike and all your families
My love always to you Janice
