Gerald "Jerry" Russel Isaac of Parkhill passed away peacefully on Friday, October 23, 2020, at Veterans Care, Parkwood Institute in London at the age of 87.
The eldest sibling, Gerald is the missed brother of Ronald & Nelda Isaac of Metcalfe, and Joyce of London, and is predeceased by his parents, Russel & Mary Isaac, brother, Raymond Isaac, sister, Carol, and brother-in-law Len Fluhrer.
Gerald was the proud uncle to Julie (Jonathan) Fase, Sherry (Jerry) Drennan, Lenny (Taylor) Fluhrer, Andy Fluhrer, Jason (Sharon) Isaac, Jancie (Jonathan) Rowan, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Gerald served in the Canadian Army as Gunner Isaac, with the Special Forces in Korea during 1952 and 1953, in the 1st RCHA, Royal Canadian Horse Artillery. Gerald was honoured to serve his country, and was proud of the medals he was awarded for his service.
A man who took great pride in his knowledge of cars, Gerald was a licensed mechanic, a "trained guy with a trained ear," possessing an interesting method of using a broom handle placed up against a car engine to diagnose the problem. Gerald was a hands-on kind of guy with his mechanics and he loved talking about cars, describing each in detail, especially with close friends and his loved nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to wonderful friends Mary, Wendy, and Maggie for their many visits and to Parkwood Hospital staff for their exceptional care.
A service with military honours will take place on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at 1 pm at the Parkhill Cemetery with Rev. Mark Isaac officiating. Donations are appreciated in Gerald's name to Parkwood Veterans Care in London.
Arrangements are entrusted to M.Box & Son Funeral Home, 183 Broad Street in Parkhill, 519-294-6382. Please leave a memory or condolence online at www.GilpinFuneralChapel.com
