Obituary

Mary Joan Mollard (Gray) of Parkhill passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2019, at Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital. Mary was the loved wife and best friend of Willis Mollard for 38 years and together they enjoyed community and adventures with friends and family.

The middle child, Mary grew up in the London area and leaves behind her siblings Lois Millen and Wally & Elaine Gray. Mary will be missed by several cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbours, and friends. Mary is predeceased by her parents and brother in law Ted Millen. Mary was not one to sit at home and was always on the go, involved in her community and spending time with her many friends. A socialite Mary enjoyed taking bus trips, watching live theatre and traveling the world.

A visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 16th from 5pm-8pm at M.Box & Son Funeral Home, 183 Broad Street, in Parkhill, followed by a service on Thursday, October 17th at 1pm with Reverend Teresa Corrigan officiating.

I'm so sorry to read of Mary's death. I go back many years to when she used to come to the farm with me. She was like a sister. I have lots of pleasant memories.

I became friends with Mary and several other ladies a few years ago. We would arrive at the Aquatic Centre and more recently the Sunningdale Pool for an early morning dip. I affectionately call us the 'floaters' as very little activity occurs except for our mouths that are never still. We always head for coffee following our pool time where our conversations continue. Mary was a faithful attender, driving in three times a week from her farm home.
She always showed an interest and concern for others. Mary shared stories of her jobs, travel holidays and growing up in London. More recently she recalled the Ilderton mystery tours and excursions she shared with Willis and friends.
When she became ill she set forth to beat the odds and stoically fought as only Mary could.
I like to remember Mary celebrating her 79th birthday at the Mandarin surrounded by Willis and her group of swimming friends.
Dear friend you shall remain in my heart. Although I will miss you I am glad you can now soar, free of pain and suffering.
Love always,
A swimming/ floating buddy
Mary Lou
