I have had the pleasure of knowing Adam for several years. He was a kind, old soul. The strong silent type. We have had many conversations. Some light-hearted and funny, others deep and profound. His intelligence and meticulous craftsmanship skills astounded me. His zest for adventure and travel came out in his many stories he shared with me about his travels around the world. My husband Tory and I had our kitchen renovated a couple years ago and Adam was responsible for what is now our beautiful herring-bone tile floor. It is truly a piece of art and we receive compliment after compliment on his work.
Since my husband and I did all of the gutting of our old kitchen, I was one day attempting to pull up the old plywood subfloor. It was dry, cracked and stuck to the original floor with a million nails. I had been trying to remove it on this particular day for about 3 hours , using a crow bar. I had removed about 1/8 th of the floor and my arms were tired, I had scratches and abrasions from the splintering wood and I was just about fed up. Adam stopped by and just stood and looked at me down on the floor. "Whatcha doin?" he asked with a smirk on his face. I just looked at him. He then looked at his phone, removed his backwards ball cap, scratched his head, put his hat back on, looked at his phone again, put his hands on his hips and sighed. Then he reached out his hand to me, helped me up and removed the rest of the sub floor for me, in about 1/2 and hour. "Gotta go, I'm late" he said with his hand in the air as he walked out the door. That was Adam to me. Kindness, selflessness and strength. Rest in sweet peace Adam.
