Dean Chester Thompson of Thedford passed away peacefully on Monday, July 15, 2019 at Bluewater Health in Sarnia.
Loved husband of the late Grace (McDonald) Thompson (2005). Dean is missed as father of Doug & Sheila, Dave and Ruth, and is predeceased by his daughter Beverly Marchand (2001). Grandfather of Jeff, Michele, Melanie, Dan, Dean and Sarah. Great Grandfather of Jarrod, Ethen, Madison, Raine, Ila, and Chet. Dean will be missed by his four legged buddies, Max, Duke and Shep.
The sawmill in Thedford was Dean’s life, a cornerstone in the community, and a great source of pride for Dean. Old tractors were Dean’s first collection of motorized vehicles, which began around 1970, his love of vehicles snowballed from there as he then went on to purchase his first collector car, a 1974 corvette in 1982. After this, the cars and trucks that went in and out the lane were beyond number. There was always an odd job for Dean to tinker with in his spare time during and after his retirement from the sawmill.
A service will take place celebrating the life of Dean on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at 2pm at Pinehill Cemetery in Thedford. Dean lived a life of hard work, determination and a strong will to always succeed in whatever he put his mind to.
Memorial donations are appreciated to the Thedford Legion, the Sarnia St. Joseph’s Hospice, or Bluewater Health Palliative Care.
